Light and Sound Meditation is a gentle but profound practice of turning attention inward towards the inner Light and inner Sound.
It is not simply a relaxation technique, although it may bring peace and stillness. It is not based on imagination, belief, or visualisation. At its heart, it is a path of direct inner experience, in which the seeker becomes receptive to subtler dimensions of consciousness.
The purpose of meditation is not to create the Light and Sound, but to become still enough to perceive what is already present within.
For some people, the path begins quietly, with a sense of calm, spaciousness, or inwardness. For others, there may be a clearer perception of inner Light, inner Sound, vibration, energy, love, or expanded awareness. Each person’s experience is individual, and the practice should be approached with patience, sincerity, and balance.
The Inner Direction of the Practice
Most of ordinary life draws attention outward.
We look, listen, think, plan, remember, respond, and react. The senses carry awareness towards the outer world, while the mind continually produces thoughts, images, emotions, and impressions.
Meditation gently reverses this movement.
Instead of following every thought, the meditator begins to rest more quietly within awareness itself. The body becomes still. The breath settles. The mind gradually becomes less dominant. Attention begins to turn inward.
This inward turning is simple, but it is also profound. It allows consciousness to become aware of subtler layers of itself that are usually hidden beneath the activity of ordinary life.
Light and Sound
In the Light and Sound tradition, two inner experiences are especially important.
The inner Light may appear as brightness, colour, radiance, flashes, forms, stars, mist, or a gentle illumination within consciousness. It may be vivid or subtle. It may appear briefly or become more stable over time.
The inner Sound may be heard inwardly as a tone, ringing, humming, vibration, music, rushing, bell-like sound, or subtle current. It is not usually heard through the physical ears in the ordinary way, but inwardly, as consciousness becomes more receptive.
These experiences should not be forced or imagined. The meditator does not try to manufacture Light or Sound. The correct attitude is one of stillness, openness, and quiet receptivity.
If Light or Sound arises, it is received gently.
If it does not arise, the meditation is still valuable.
Stillness, peace, clarity, love, and deeper self-understanding are also part of the unfolding path.
The Three Great Stages
Traditionally, the Light and Sound path is described through three great stages or initiations.
The First Initiation opens the seeker to the inner Light and Sound. It marks the beginning of conscious contact with the spiritual current within.
The Second Initiation deepens and stabilises the meditation. The seeker becomes more firmly established in the inner path, and the Light and Sound may become clearer, stronger, and more central to spiritual practice.
Enlightenment is the fulfilment of the journey. It is not simply a powerful experience, but a profound transformation of consciousness in which the sense of separation begins to dissolve.
These stages are explored more fully on the Initiation page and on the separate websites devoted to First Initiation, Second Initiation, and Enlightenment.
The First Initiation
The First Initiation introduces the meditator to the inner Light and Sound.
For many people, this is the first clear recognition that meditation is more than relaxation or quiet thought. It may become a direct opening to the spiritual current that has always been present within them.
Some may experience Light. Some may hear Sound. Some may feel stillness, vibration, peace, expansion, or a subtle movement inward. Others may notice little at first, yet find that something begins to change quietly in the days or weeks that follow.
The First Initiation is not an achievement of the personality. It is a beginning, an opening, and an invitation to continue.

The Second Initiation
The Second Initiation deepens and strengthens the meditation.
At this stage, the seeker may become more steadily established in the inner Light and Sound. Meditation may feel less like an occasional experience and more like a living relationship with the deeper current of consciousness.
This stage is often concerned with steadiness, commitment, trust, and integration. The spiritual path begins to affect not only meditation sittings, but the whole way a person lives, responds, loves, serves, and understands themselves.
The Second Initiation helps the seeker move from first contact towards deeper alignment.

Enlightenment
Enlightenment is the fulfilment of the spiritual journey.
It is not simply a belief, a philosophy, or a temporary mystical experience. It is a profound shift in consciousness in which the old sense of being a separate self begins to fall away.
A deeper view suggests that Enlightenment is the soul’s awakening into unity, where life is no longer experienced from the narrow centre of personal identity. The individual still functions in the world, but the deeper truth of consciousness has been recognised.
Through the continuing grace of the inner Light and Sound, the seeker is drawn beyond fear, separation, individuality, and limitation, towards the deeper truth of what they are.

The Journey of the Soul
The three initiations are not separate achievements, but stages within one unfolding movement.
The soul is gently invited inward. At first, it may glimpse the Light and hear the Sound. Then it learns to trust them more deeply. Eventually, through grace, discipline, surrender, and inner transformation, consciousness may awaken beyond the illusion of separation.
This journey cannot be rushed. It unfolds according to the readiness of the seeker and the movement of the higher spiritual energies.
The important thing is to remain sincere, steady, humble, and open.
How to Approach the Practice
Light and Sound Meditation is best approached simply.
Sit comfortably.
Let the body become still.
Allow the breath to settle.
Use a mantra gently if this is part of your practice.
Then let go.
Do not strain to see Light. Do not force yourself to hear Sound. Do not judge the meditation by one sitting. The path opens through patience and receptivity, not through effortful control.
Some sittings may be peaceful. Some may be uneventful. Some may be powerful. Some may feel ordinary. All can be part of the gradual preparation of consciousness.
Testimonial
“When I sat down to meditate for the Initiation I really didn’t expect very much. People tend to exaggerate but usually because of enthusiasm rather than deception. So it was with an open mind that I turned up on my cushion that day.
In no way could I have been prepared for what transpired when I was given the Divine Spark; I felt as if I was being shot into space through galaxies of the most beautiful Light imaginable, in colours of white and gold. All I wanted to do was to die right there and then, realising that even though I considered myself educated, I knew nothing.
Obviously I did return to meditate another day. A number of years later I attained Enlightenment and am now in a position to help others along the same Path.”

Further Guidance
The path is inward, but guidance can still be helpful.
Questions naturally arise about meditation, the Light and Sound, awakening, initiation, Enlightenment, and the wider journey of the soul. Some questions are practical. Others are subtle and deeply personal.
For general guidance, reflection, and support, Albert has been created as a personal awakening and meditation guide. It is not a replacement for direct inner experience, nor for human guidance where that is needed, but it can help seekers explore their questions with clarity, gentleness, and depth.
For those who feel drawn to initiation, or who wish to understand the different ways of opening to the Light and Sound, the Initiation page offers further guidance.
